Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea & Solomon Islands launch of the Social Communications Commission 5 year Strategic Plan

Port Moresby , 12th November - The Catholic Bishops Conference Social Communications Commission today launched its 5-year Strategic Plan at the Catholic Bishops Conference Headquarters in Port Moresby.
This momentous launching signifies the Social Communications Commission( SOCOM) arm of the Catholic Bishops Conference of PNG and Solomon Islands renewed strength in the Church’s engagement with everyone through the Media, storytelling and communication grounded in Gospel Values.
Bishop Deputy of Social Communications Commission (SOCOM) Bishop Jozef Roszynski SVD DD gave the opening address reflecting on the importance of how Media and Communications plays in equipping the Church to meet the call of forming communicators rooted in Gospel values , expanding media outreach, advocating for the voiceless and celebrating the powerful role of evangelization and nation building.
“Social Communication is not simply about using modern tools like radio, television, digital platforms or print media but about proclaiming the Gospel with clarity, compassion and courage. Pope Francis reminds us that communication must always be at the service of truth and the dignity of every person,” said Bishop Roszynzki.

Lawrence Arockiaraj, General Secretary of CBC PNG & SI , Bishop Jozef Rozszynski SVD DD, Bishop Deputy of Social Communications Commission ( SOCOM ) , Daisy Anne Lisania the Secretary for Social Communications Commission , being flanked by members of the Media team and staff of CBC PNG & SI during the launching of the 5 year Strategic Plan today in Port Moresby.
General Secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference, Fr. Lawrence Arockiaraj also emphasized on Social Communications Commission’s continued work that plays a vital role in this mission.
“ To the Social Communications team, to those working quietly in offices, studios, parishes, radio rooms and diocesan media centers across our region, thank you, Your work is mission . Your work is ministry. Your work is evangelization,” remarked Fr. Lawrence.
Sr. Daisy Anne Lisania Augustine, the Secretary of Social Communications Commission gave an overview of the Social Communications Commission indicating that the church will be working across five priority areas of;
1. Formation in Social Communication
2. Broadcast Media Development
3. Print Media Strengthening
4. Media Advocacy and Public Engagement ‘
5. Special Communications Celebrations.

The launching ended with a launch video and Media Showcase in which short videos were shown to the attendees on the work that SOCOM does by the Communications Production Team and then the official launch and unveiling of the Strategic Plan in front of media partners and other attendees.
The launch ended with a photo session with all the media partners, and staff of the Catholic Bishops Conference showcasing the 5-year strategic plan.
