The small but significant program had everyone participating in the solemn mass before the launching. The New Guinea Islands region led a beautiful liturgy with angelic singing.

The mass had Fr Walter Pilai MSC as the main celebrant with Parish Priest Fr Robert Spania MSC as the concelebrant.

In a fitting homily for the occasion, Fr Walter shared that the concept of heaven is not a place up in the sky but it is within us, unfortunately, limitations of this world does not allow us to experience this heaven.

He then reflected on the gospel of Luke 24:46 - 53 saying that Jesus in the Gospel is like a father travelling to a distant land and promising to bring back gifts for his children if they behave themselves in his absence.

“We are called to be living witnesses and communicators of God’s love in our daily lives, not just in church, our wantoks or neighbours, but to everyone”

During launch, students from Sacred Heart Teachers College carried special symbols of communication: a kundu signifying the different means of communication, a map signifying the global community we live in and candles signifying hope.
