CBCPNGSI, Headquarters, PORT MORESBY – June 26, 2026 – St. Therese Primary School and Christ the King Parish reached a historic milestone today at the Catholic Bishops Conference Hall, officially launching their new website as part of the lead-up to the school’s 100-year centenary. The event, held under the theme “Celebrating 100 Years of Faith, Education and Digital Transformation,” brought together clergy, alumni, and students to honor a century of service since the school’s establishment in 1927.

The ceremony served as a formal countdown to the Grand Centenary Day celebration scheduled for October 2027. While the program initially included addresses from several high-profile dignitaries, Hon. Justin Tkatchenko (MP for Moresby South), Hon. Powes Parkop (Governor of NCD), and His Eminence Cardinal John Ribat were unable to attend the morning’s proceedings. In place of the Cardinal, Fr. Bruce Kupi, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Port Moresby, delivered a message on his behalf, offering a blessing for the school's digital future and its ongoing mission in Catholic education: "May this platform become an instrument of evangelization".

The Parish Chairman and Centenary Committee head, Mr Steven Huas, emphasized that the new website is far more than a digital platform; it is a “window into our mission” designed to connect the school with global sponsors, donors, and partners. He highlighted that the site will be instrumental in raising capital for priority development areas, including new classrooms, a library, ICT facilities, and the general school grounds.

“Together, let us save not only the students but the leaders of this country,” Mr. Huas. stated during his address, noting that the institution has been a cornerstone of faith formation and academic excellence for a century. The launch kicks off a series of major events planned for 2026 and 2027, including a St. Therese Cultural Day, a Sports Day, and a 100-year corporate dinner. These activities aim to mobilize support for the school’s next century of impact, ensuring that the light of education continues to shine brightly for the generations to come.
