The program commenced on Monday 27th of October, with a warm welcome from the General Secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands Fr Lawrence Arockiaraj and the Commission Secretaries, who presented traditional bilums and Flower Garlands to the facilitators from Missio Aachen namely Ms. Anne Knörzer, Desk Officer for Oceania region, Ms. Petra Wunsch, Project Software Officer and Ms. Stella Muerkens, Safeguarding Officer.

On the second day, participants engaged in two parallel sessions designed to provide both theoretical and practical insights. The first focused on Project and Reporting via the Online Portal, offering hands-on practice and real-life examples, while the second explored Safeguarding Policies: Practical Case Studies from Participants, encouraging reflection and exchange of experiences from various dioceses.

Through these sessions, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of Missio’s project procedures and safeguarding standards. They also received practical training on using the online project application portal. A key point highlighted by facilitators was that having a safeguarding policy is a mandatory requirement for all project applicants seeking funding support from Missio.

The two-day workshop concluded with participants expressing deep appreciation for the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge and skills, which will support them in effectively developing, implementing, and managing projects within their dioceses.
