Port Moresby, 21st June 2026: Staff from the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (CBCPNGSI) joined more than 2,000 other participants for the 16th Sir Anthony Siaguru Walk Against Corruption (SASWAC), held at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
Organised by Transparency International PNG, the Walk Against Corruption brought together corporate bodies, schools, churches, civil society and community groups under the 2026 theme: “Integrity & Action Now!!!”.

The annual event is named in honour of anti-corruption advocate Sir Anthony Siaguru, who was the founding chairman and a key driving force behind the establishment of Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG). The aims to raise public awareness about the harms of corruption and to encourage individuals and institutions to take concrete steps in promoting transparency, accountability and good governance.
CBCPNGSI staff proudly carried their team banner bearing the theme: “Whole in character, honest in action, true even when unseen. Stand firm, speak out, and take charge against corruption. Be the light, walk in faith, and let God guide our steps against corruption.” This message reflected the Church’s long-standing teaching that faith must be lived out through integrity in public and private life, a preferential option for the poor, and a clear rejection of corruption in all its forms.
By taking part in the 16th SASWAC, CBCPNGSI staff witnessed to the Gospel call to truth and justice, standing alongside other citizens in affirming that corruption undermines human dignity, social development and peace. Their participation highlighted the Church’s commitment to forming consciences, promoting ethical leadership and encouraging Catholics and all people of goodwill to act courageously for the common good, grounded in faith and integrity.
