DOLSH Aspirants and Novices attend Right Relationships in Ministry

Yule Island: Fourteen participants attended a weeklong workshop for Right Relationships facilitated by the Catholic Bishops Conference Right Relationships in Ministry Directress Sr Ancy John SCSA at the Villa Verius Novitiate formation house from March 10 – 14, 2025.

The program came about after Sr Ancy was invited by the Formators of Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to give the workshop to their aspirants and novices.


The participants comprised of seven aspirants who are in the process of entering the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart postulancy and seven novices of which, two have 2 years’ experience with five in their first year of being novices.


Sr Ancy took the participants through the topic on ‘boundaries’ and the different types of boundaries for the first day covering physical, emotional, mental, material and sexual boundaries. 


She emphasized enforcing the boundaries on personal qualities that bring the best results in our interactions with others, understanding the concept of respect, the importance of boundaries and guidelines for maintaining Ministerial Boundaries.


Furthermore, the session helped the participants to set our boundaries for better and healthy relationship with ourselves, with God and with others. The questions given for reflections were very challenging and at the same time helped them to understand the meaning of boundaries and its purpose. 


The second session focused on ‘Relationships’ and challenged the participants to look at their relationships with God, friends, family members and sisters in the religious communities and the significance in mending the broken relationships. 


In the third session, Sr Ancy introduced the topic of ‘Sexuality’ which helped the participants understand that sexuality as a gift from God and part of a human person. While focusing on Human Sexuality, she elaborated on Intimate Relationship. The participants were guided to learning about the meaning of living sexuality to the full, living sexuality responsibly, Committed Sexuality, Consecrated Sexuality touching on the importance of chaste and celibate life.


The last day had the participants reflect on the week’s sessions and activities and concluded with a prayer and presentation of certificates. Present at the closing ceremony were Sr Erica Peni OLSH and Sr Lawrencia Ramanua OLSH, their formators.


The participants were grateful to Sr Ancy John for the wonderful and insightful sessions.
