Wabag: The Catholic community of Wabag Diocese came together on March 4, 2025 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of service by the late Bishop Arnold Orowae.

The solemn, yet joyous occasion, was marked by a special mass that highlighted the profound impact Bishop Orowae had on the diocese and its parishioners.
Leading the mass was Coadjutor Archbishop Clement Papa from the Archdiocese of Hagen, who was joined by Auxiliary Bishop Justin Ain Soongie and a gathering of priests from the Wabag Diocese. The ceremony unfolded at the Diocesan Cathedral, a place filled with memories of Bishop Orowae’s dedicated ministry over the years.
Bishop Orowae, who passed away in December 2024, was known for his unwavering commitment to the spiritual growth and well-being of his congregation. He played a pivotal role in promoting education, social justice, and community development within the diocese. His legacy continues to inspire both clergy and lay people alike.
During the mass, the Most Reverend Archbishop of Hagen reflected on Bishop Orowae's contributions, calling him a "beacon of hope" who worked tirelessly to uplift the marginalized and foster a sense of unity among diverse communities in the region.
"His vision for a more inclusive church and society remains a guiding light for all of us," he stated.
Auxiliary Bishop Justin Ain Soongie also shared heartfelt memories of working alongside Bishop Orowae, emphasizing the late bishop's deep faith, compassionate nature, and innovative approach to evangelization.
"Today, we gather not only to celebrate 25 years of leadership but also to honor a man whose life was devoted to serving God and his people," he remarked.
The mass was attended by numerous parishioners, local leaders, and representatives from various dioceses, all united in their remembrance and gratitude for Bishop Orowae's service.
