Bishop blesses a new staff building for Health Workers

Kamkumung, Lae: His Lordship Bishop Rozario Menezes SMM and the Vicar-General Fr Roland Matoyi CMM blessed a new Ambulance and opened a new staff building for the health workers of the Centre of Mercy Clinic in Kamkumung, Lae on the 10th of May.

His Lordship Bishop Rozario Menezes SMM said during his keynote speech that our health service is the extension of our pastoral work. Bishop Rozario said that the health workers of Centre of Mercy show mercy to their patients who are sick and suffering. Bishop acknowledged the hard work and commitment for the staff to the patients they are treating at the clinic. He said that the nurses and staff treat the patients with God’s love, and they portray the healing of Jesus to the sick. Bishop said the health workers extend the compassion of Jesus. The Bishop acknowledged the Catholic Health Services, the Diocese of Lae and the National office for their generosity to the diocese of Lae. He thanked the National Health Secretary, the Bishop Deputy of the Health Services under the Catholic Bishops Conference and all the Board Members of the National Catholic Health Services for their support to the new facilities.
The Diocesan Health Manageress, Sr Knowledge Ndlovu CPS acknowledged the presence of His Lordship Bishop Rozario Menezes SMM and the Vicar-General Fr Roland Matoyi CMM with five priests that are present on that day to witness the blessing of the new ambulance and opening of the new four units building for the staff. She also acknowledged and welcomed the presence of the Director of Public Health, Mr Kelly Mesere and all the other staff for the Morobe Provincial Health Authority that were also present on that day. She thanked all the board members for their support and even welcomed everyone that attended this special event for the Centre of Mercy clinic. She said that today marks a special day since they are also celebrating the Workers Day. Sr Knoweldge said that the celebration of today highlights the commitment, care, collaboration and keeps the mission alive and strong.

“The structure of the new house is not just a timber or a stone or roofing iron but it is a place of rest, safety and dignity of all the hardworking staff that served tirelessly day and night”, said the Manageress, Sr Knowledge Ndlovu
The Director of Public Health, Mr Kelly Mesere said that Catholic Health Services has been a major partner in the delivering of Health services in Morobe Province for some time. Mr Mesere said that they acknowledged and embraced the services that are provided by the Catholic Health Services all these years.
“We are looking forward to work with Catholic Health Services and we appreciate them for being one of our bigger partners who we will work together with to share the same resources and reach the same targets by delivering services to the people of Morobe”, says Mr Kelly.
The highlight of the day was the blessing of the new ambulance, a vital resource for Centre of Mercy and the opening of the four Units staff building. The blessing and cutting of the ribbon was done by His Lordship Bishop Rozario Menezes SMM and the Vicar-General Fr Roland Matoyi CMM with the Director of Public Health Mr Kellly Mesere. The event was a collaboration and celebration of the Morobe Provincial Health Authority officials with the church health workers.
The singsing group was the mothers from St. Therese Parish who entertained the guests and everyone who were there to witness the occasion. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of optimism and gratitude for the improved healthcare resources now available to the community.
