Most Reverend Bishop Donald Lippert OFM Cap was the main celebrant and was assisted by Parish Priest Fr Emmanuel Tembo OFM Cap and Fr Colman OFM Cap.
In his inspiring homily, His Grace reminded the candidates that when we get baptized, we are born again in water and spirit and the fire of the spirit is alive in our hearts and when we receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, it strengthens us for the service to the body of Christ.
Bishop Lippert also challenged the candidates to stand firm in their faith to become leaders in the church and defend their faith and the church.
“You are young people of the Catholic Church today and not tomorrow, therefore, how are we going to live your Catholic faith and lead the Church?”
Concluding his homily, His Grace encouraged the candidates to call on the Holy Spirit to inspire them to be good examples of Catholic Christians and be closer to God.
Following the mass, many shared similar sentiments of feeling blessed either to be Confirmed or witnessing their loved ones receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and looked forward to the blessings and challenges of the new year.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is the last of the three Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church. The first one is the Sacrament of Baptism and the second one is the Sacrament of the Eucharist.
