Kerema: The Way of the Cross procession brought hope for peace within the family and the community as a whole, as the six (6) out stations of Terapo Parish in Kerema Diocese come together to celebrate the Holy Cross procession on April 18, 2025.

The procession took place at St. Antony Malalaua (SCC), despite the heavy down pour that soaked the faithfuls in the early hours of the morning. More than 200 Parishioners walked for 12 km praying, meditating and singing with angelic voices. The procession was led by the youth.

The main intention during the way of the cross was for peace between the two tribes of Keame and Moveave. The two tribes have not been in good terms for more than 6 months but after much prayer by people of goodwill, a new chapter of peace process negotiations has begun. Other intentions for the way of the cross procession included: decline in family based violence, stealing and substance abuse, especially marijuana and home brew consumption in the communities.

Parish priest Fr Eugene Karava emphasised on the evening mass of the Lord's Supper that we are broken pieces in many different ways.

"Jesus is crucified to mend all our brokenness and he will unite us with our brothers and sisters and with the Lord".

The St. Vincent de Paul Terapo Primary school students took stage to perform a contemporary drama of crucifying and burial of Jesus Christ after the way of the cross.

The procession ended with veneration after blessing by the Parish Priest Fr.Eugene Karava.

Parisioner and Small Christian Community Leader Bob Francis Posul commended the participation of the young people in this year's easter programs.

Meanwhile, prayer leader of St Anthony Malalaua commented that as Catholic believers, each individual must prepare well during the Lenten season by doing our corporal works of mercy.

Sentiments of joy was shared by all who took part and everyone is hoping to see more people taking part in the way of the cross next year.
