The Catholic Diocese of Kimbe celebrated an important moment in the faith journey of 406 young Catholics who received the Sacrament of Confirmation at Valanguo Parish on 14 October 2026. The sacrament was administered by Bishop John Bosco Auram during his pastoral visit to the parish.

The candidates came from Valanguo Parish and its sub-parishes, gathering with their families and parish communities to celebrate this important step in their Christian formation and deepen their commitment to the Catholic faith.

Bishop Auram began his pastoral journey on 12 October, travelling by road from Kimbe to Kaskas, where he spent the night. He continued his journey by outboard motorboat to Valanguo Parish on 13 October, ahead of the Confirmation celebration the following day.

The Confirmation Mass was celebrated by Bishop Auram with the assistance of Valanguo Parish Priest, Fr Chris Amun, and Turuk Parish Assistant Priest, Fr Darius Sakail. The celebration brought together the candidates, clergy and parishioners in a shared expression of faith and communion with the local Church.

Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the candidates are strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and called to bear witness to Christ through their words and actions. The sacrament deepens their baptismal commitment and encourages them to live their Christian faith with courage, responsibility and fidelity to the teachings of the Church.

The celebration also reflected the dedication of the clergy, catechists, families and parish communities who accompany young Catholics in their spiritual formation. Their commitment is particularly important in remote communities, where travelling to participate in diocesan and parish celebrations can involve considerable challenges.

The Confirmation celebration at Valanguo Parish was a significant occasion for the candidates and the wider Catholic community of the Diocese of Kimbe as they continue to grow in faith and participate more fully in the life and mission of the Church.
