Mingende, Kundiawa: “For 75 years, this institution has stood as a beacon of healing with hope and compassion serving the sick, comforting the suffering and walking with the weak, in the spirit of Christ the Divine Healer”

The was the heartfelt message from an emotional Sr Jositha Savari SMMI, the health manageress of St Joseph Mingende District Hospital during the diamond jubilee celebrations of the hospital on Sunday August 24, 2025.

In paying tribute to the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit (SSpS) who set the foundation for what would later be the heartbeat of health service in the Diocese of Kundiawa, Sr Jositha said that a seed of compassion was planted 75 years ago.

“This seed was watered by faith and nurtured by the healing hands of many and blessed by the grace of God. From this seed grew St Joseph Mingende District Hospital, a place where hope walks through every hallway, where tears are met with comfort, and where the sick and weary find a touch of Christ”.

She stressed that the jubilee is more than a celebration of history but a testament of faith in action, and we must remember with gratitude and appreciate the missionaries, founders, health workers, and the generous laity who gave their lives in service to the mission of healing.

“Their legacy lives on in every life touched, every child delivered, every wound dressed, and every prayer whispered at a patient’s bedside. Today we gather not only to give thanks for the past, but rejoice in the countless lives restored, the stories rewritten, and the light of God that has shone here for generations.”

She concluded by calling for the Catholic Church Health Service Ministry to continue to serve with love, justice, and mercy.
