Position Vacancy: Media and Communications Officer

The Media and Communications Officer is accountable to the General Secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference PNG/SI.

Duties of the Media and Communications Officer;

  • Provide and maintain the CBC communication services through media (print, audio, video, digital) already in place or to be developed.

  • Support the CBC to deliver on the social media strategy.

  • Cater for the preparation of press conferences, programs, publications, productions, etc.

  • Cover events and happenings in the different dioceses of PNG as required.

  • Any other duties assigned by immediate Manager. Essential requirements for the position

  • Commitment to the values and familiarity with the Catholic Church.

  • Perfect control of the English language in speaking and writing

  • Relevant media training, skills, and experience; especially on social media.

  • Sound knowledge of current issues at the social, political, and religious level.

  • Familiarity with the overall system stakeholders, Churches and faith-based organizations, PNG government departments, Pacific and other international partners.

  • Bachelor/Degree qualifications in Journalism and/or Media Studies.
