The candidates, consisting mostly of students from Buem, Burbura, Girau, Was-ab Wara, Kabilmas, Matugar, Waduin, Bunu, Kubugam and Mugil Primary Schools gathered at the St John the Baptist Church to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, an initiation of their Christian faith.

The St John the Baptist, Mugil Parish Church was packed to its full capacity with family, friends and Catholic faithfuls who attended to witness this special occasion.

The main celebrant of the Confirmation mass was the Archbishop of Madang, His Grace, Most Reverend Anton Bal DD with Mugil Parish Priest Fr Peter Nah KMS, as the concelebrant.

In his homily, His Grace mentioned that by laying his hands in blessing, he was imparting the Holy Spirit who is our helper sent from God our Father in heaven. In return, our response is turn from our sins and to follow Jesus Christ our Saviour.

He further stated that as mature Christians, we put into practice our Christian responsibilities as priest, prophet and king from Baptism.

Empowered by the message from His Grace, Miss Shikayna Manini from Waduin primary school passionately declared that receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation was one of the special moments in her life.

“I feel very happy today because I received someone who is special in my life. Someone who will strengthen me, give me advice and tell me what to do and what not to do,” she said in reference to the Holy Spirit.

The Liturgy was led by the St John the Baptist Church Liturgy group.
