The Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands (PGS) delegation was privileged to represent Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands at the Salesian Youth Movement Caravario Encounter 2026 held in Cebu, Philippines. Guided by the theme “Belong, Believe, Become,” the gathering brought together Salesian youth from across Southeast Asia in a celebration that was vibrant, youthful, and deeply spiritual.

More than just an event, the encounter served as a transformative experience, filled with prayer, learning, laughter, and meaningful engagement. It provided a platform for young people from diverse cultural backgrounds to connect, share, and grow together in faith. Through various activities and interactions, participants explored new places, formed lasting friendships, and gained valuable insights that will influence their lives and communities.

Despite differences in culture, language, and nationality, a strong sense of unity prevailed among the participants. In Christ, they experienced a deep bond that transcended all barriers. As Bosconians, youth inspired by the charism of St. John Bosco, they are reminded that they are both the present and the future of the Church. The spirit of Don Bosco continues to guide them to live with integrity, rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and Gospel values, and to serve as witnesses of faith within their communities.

The encounter also served as a call to reflection and responsibility. As Bosconian youth, they are challenged to live out the virtues and teachings of the Church in their daily lives. The future of their respective nations rests in their hands, and they are called to be a light of hope for those living in darkness and despair. The choices they make today will shape the lives of tomorrow.

Participants were encouraged to strive for excellence and remain firmly grounded in the family of Christ. As Bosconians, they are called to belong to Christ and His community, to believe by living out the Word of God, and to become the people God calls them to be, His instruments of love, peace, and transformation in the world.

The Caravario Encounter 2026 stands as more than a gathering; it is a moment of renewal and mission. The delegation returns home strengthened in faith, enriched by experience, and committed to making a meaningful impact in their communities.

Belong. Believe. Become.

Viva Don Bosco!
