His Excellency Most Reverend Bishop Justin Ain Soongie officially launched 5 years plan for Wabag Diocese focus on Marriage and Family Life.

The launching concluded a three days Diocesan Assembly held at the Holy Spirit Pastoral Center in Par. Priests, religious men and women, and parish chairpersons from across the diocese attended the important gathering to plan

the future direction of their church.

The timing of the launching was particularly meaningful, as it took place immediately following the diaconate ordination of Reverend Newman Kundal and Reverend James Mal. The joyful crowd that celebrated the two new deacons remained to witness the unveiling of the pastoral plan.

The historic launching took place at St. Martin De Porres Parish in Par, where approximately 2,000 Christians gathered to witness Bishop Soongie cut the ribbon and formally open the new pastoral initiative, marking a significant moment for the Catholic community in Enga Province.

The five-year plan prioritizes strengthening marriages and supporting families facing modern challenges. Bishop Soongie emphasized that healthy families form the foundation of strong Christian communities and peaceful societies.

"We commit ourselves to walking with our families through every stage of life, Bishop Soongie told the large gathering. "This pastoral plan reflects our dedication to preserving the sanctity of marriage and supporting parents in raising their children with Christian values".

The plan includes comprehensive programs such as marriage preparation courses, couple enrichment workshops, family counseling services, and youth education on relationship values. The diocese will train pastoral workers to deliver these services across remote parishes throughout Enga.

Church elders praised the initiative, noting that many families struggle with domestic issues, substance abuse, and economic pressures. The pastoral plan offers practical support and spiritual guidance to address these challenges.

Implementation begins in 2026, with each parish developing specific programs tailored to their communities needs. The diocese encourages all Catholic families to actively participate in strengthening their marriages and family relationships through this pastoral vision.
