Mendi: Young people from the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Kewabi touched the hearts of many with a short drama performed on Saturday November 23, 2024 during the Diocesan Eucharistic Congress.

Titled ‘Hands’, the drama highlighted the human person as an intellectual being that has the freedom and conscience to choose whether to use his/her hands to do good and bring about prosperity or to use them to do evil and bring about destruction to the society.
The Drama was performed to conclude the Catechesis given by Fr Filip Manikowski MSF, the assistant Parish Priest of Kewabi.
In his Catechesis centered around the theme: The Eucharist and the Youth targeting the youth, Fr Filip’s talk was a unique opportunity for the youth to explore the richness of the Eucharist, discovering its relevance and significance in their lives.
Although targeting the young people, the session was also a reminder to the older members of the congregation reawakening the youthfulness of their faith to seek meaning and connection in the Holy Eucharist in a world filled with constant change and challenge.
Participating youth Joyceline Kirami said taking part in the drama has helped her to realize and appreciate that our hands have the power to bring prosperity as well as destruction.
“When we give a helping hand to someone in need, we bless them but when we fight, we bring about destruction. As young people, it is our duty to use our hands to build our communities, parishes and our Diocese and our country.”
Fr Filip expressed sentiments of joy saying he was pleased with the youth for putting up the wonderful performance and their hard work and dedication in rehearsing was paid off with many drawing inspiration from the drama.
“It took us two months to prepare and rehearse. Our little gatherings included prayer moments and singing, to have everyone become part both spiritually and physically ready to evangelize through the short drama”.
