Three PNG SVD brothers among seven profess perpetual vows

Tagaytay, Philippines: On July 19, 2025, seven SVD brothers professed their perpetual vows at the Holy Spirit Chapel in the Divine Word Seminary in Tagaytay, Philippines.

The seven SVD brothers are:

• Frt. Rodel S. Mellarpis

• Frt. Freddy Lyaki

• Frt. Jinbao Hu

• Frt. Ahrjay Y. Dafun

• Frt. Terrence A. Basse

• Frt. Jonathan Whimari

• Frt. Wang Tongsheng

  
  

Out of the seven, three are from Papua New Guinea:

• Frt Jonathan Whimari from Wewak Diocese.

• Frt Freddy Lyaki from Wabag Diocese.

• Frt Terence A. Basse from Goroka Diocese.

The auspicious occasion was attended by the Papua New Guinea Catholic Community nearby as well as friends and family who flew from different parts of PNG to the Philippines to witness the milestone achievement in their sons' lives in a foreign land.

We thank God for the gift of the lives of the seven young men who professed their perpetual vows and we continue to pray for God's grace to help them persevere in their calling.

The mass concluded with the seven brothers surrounded by family, friends and well wishers congratulating them followed by a photo session.
