Lorengau, Manus: More than 600 students and teachers from secondary schools in Manus took part in Media Education Seminars conducted by the Social Communications Commission of the Catholic Bishops Conference of PNGSI.
Based on the theme “Speaking with the heart”, the seminars were facilitated by the Social
Communications team and had sessions dwelling on Social Media Evangelization, photography, and video basics with practical activities allowing the dynamic students to put into practice the new skills they learned during the sessions.
Social Communications Secretary Sr. Daisy Anne Lisania Augustine MSC encouraged the students and teachers to use social media to spread hope by posting inspiring content on different social media platforms instead of spreading negativity and hate.
“We are all made in the image and likeness of God, therefore we should always be happy and respect others and ourselves and spread hope and positivity in all that we do, whether it be in our personal lives and on social media”.
Head Girl of Evangelical Church of Manus Elizabeth Makis on behalf of the students of ECOM Secondary said that they are lucky to have taken part in the MES program and encouraged her peers to live truthful lives in both their personal lives and on social media.
“As young people, we often live different lives on and off social media but now after attending the MES program, it is our challenge to live our lives to the fullest in a truthful way and share the joy and happiness of Christ with those around us as well as those we interact with on social media”, she said.
The Media Education Seminars were conducted from March 20th – 22nd in Manus Secondary School, Evangelical Church of Manus Secondary School, and Papitalai Secondary School.
