St Michael's Parish - Lorengau raise funds for Legion House

Lorengau, Manus: On Saturday 19th July, 2025, the Legion of Mary gathered for their planned program of ‘bring & buy’ to complete the Legion House. The event was also an opportunity for everyone to gather in prayer, joyful singing and dancing.

The Mary Mother of Hope Kuria was the host of the gathering in the residence of the Chairman of Ward 3 who is also a devout Catholic faithful. Present at the gathering was the Legion Mothers presidium from Wards 1- 7. The program started with an opening remark by the president of Mary Mother of Hope kuria, Mrs Anastasia Aruga, followed by singsing and prayer for God’s abundant provisions, prior to everyone partaking in the food.

Each ward of Lorengau (1-7) took on one of the seven virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary as names of their respective Kuria. The names of the Kuria from Wards 1-7 are:

1. Maria Mama blong Laikim (Mary Mother of Love)

2. Maria Kwin blong Gutpla Ensel ( Mary Mother and Queen of Engels)

3. Maria Mama blong Hope (Mary Mother of Hope)

4. Maria Mama blong Nupla Kontrak (Mary Mother of New Contract)

5. Maria Mama blong Helpim (Mary Mother of Intercession)

6. Maria Mama Kwin blong Fatima, (Mary Mother and Queen of Fatima)

7. Maria Mama blong Marmari (Mary Mother of compassion).

The program ended with a word of prayer before everyone left for their respective homes.
