Significant Celebration: Honoring Teachers, Birthdays and Service Milestone at CBCPNGSI.

In commemoration of World Teachers Day last week, the staff of Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands gathered together today, 12th October 2026, to honor those who have contributed towards the informal and formal educational sector of our beautiful country. The gathering was also to celebrate the birthday of staff members born in October and an important milestone in service.

Two bishops were also remembered that day, Bishop of the Diocese of Gizo Most Reverend Peter Houhou (SI) and Bishop of the Diocese of Kimbe Most Reverend John Bosco Auram, DD, who will also be celebrating their birthdays this month.

Moreover, the gathering was also to celebrate a significant milestone for the National Deputy Secretary Religious Education, Sr Roshni Kachuwa's 35th anniversary of religious life.

Overall, Teachers Day reminds us how educators have played a vital role in the growth of the country through inspiring and educating young minds to be future leaders in all aspects of life. Education not only takes place in school but also at home, church, etc.
