Opening of the Holy Door at Arop, Corpus Christi Church

Aitape: On Sunday April 27, 2025, Parish priest Fr. George Ayikade CSSp, assisted by Fr. Phillip Pagolu OFM presided a tremendous celebration of two remarkable significant event at Corpus Christi church in Arop:

1} Divine Mercy Feast and

2} Opening of the Holy Door.

With much enthusiasm, the two – day spirit filled program was an enriching experience for all those who gathered for the Eucharistic celebration and to experience profound meaning of the Holy Door. Faraway parishes and Basic Christian Communities came by boat, car and canoe while some walked for hours to join in the celebration.

On Saturday April 26th, talks were given by Fr George to spiritually prepare the congregation for the next day’s celebrations. His talk was based on the ’11 Conditions for gaining a Plenary/Partial Indulgence process to enter through the Holy Door’.

“For a person to get through the Holy Door, one must truly repent for his/her many sins through the sacrament of confession and get deliverance from the eternal punishment depends on God”

After the spiritually enriching talks, the priests listened to confessions.

With beautiful choir and dances led by the young people, the celebration enjoyed by all who took part.
