OLSH ASSOCIATION HOLDS PILGRIMAGE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR NEW STATUE
By: James Miri
Kerema: The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) Association of Kerema Diocese held a three- day pilgrimage at St. Vincent de Paul Terapo Parish from October 23rd to 25th, 2026, bringing together more than 100 plus members from Moripi and Terapo parishes in the East Deanery.

The gathering aimed to strengthen the faith and unity of association members while raising funds to purchase a new statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart for Kerema Diocese.
Members from the two parishes participated in the pilgrimage. However, some Small Christian Communities (SCCs) were unable to attend due to the effects of El Nino, which has affected communities across Gulf Province and other parts of Papua New Guinea. The pilgrimage was an important occasion for members to come together in prayer, fellowship, and fundraising to support the Diocese’s plan to acquire a new statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.
The gathering was also described as the first of its kind in a long time. The association established its executive committee last year, marking a step towards strengthening its leadership and activities within the Kerema Diocese.
Through the pilgrimage, members renewed their commitment to the association and contributed towards its mission of promoting devotion to Our Lady of the sacred Heart within the Diocese.
