Diocese of Kundiawa Appointed New Bishop

The Apostolic Nunciature in Papua New Guinea has announced the appointment of Reverend Father Paul Sundu, as the new Bishop of Kundiawa.

The announcement made via press release on Saturday 3rd April 2021. Fr Paul ordained in 2006, obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas-Angelicum in 2014, before taking up his role as Parish Priest of Koge.


Apart from speaking his native language of Kuman, and Tok Pisin, Fr Paul also knows English and Italian. Now at the age of 48, he is currently a lecturer at the Good Sheppard Seminary of Mt Hagen.


The Catholic Diocese of Kundiawa is a suffragan diocese of the Catholic Archdiocese of Mt Hagen in Papua New Guinea. It was erected in 1982, after it was separated from the Diocese of Goroka.
