The Diocese of Goroka recently hosted a powerful Charismatic Workshop at the Goroka Cathedral, which brought together over 300 participants from across the Highlands region.

The workshop was organized by the Diocese of Goroka under the coordination of Rev. Fr. Adam Samsel, MSF, Vicar General of the Diocese. Participants came from the dioceses of Madang, Goroka, Kundiawa, Hagen, and Mendi, showing the spirit of unity and hunger for spiritual renewal that continues to grow among our faithful.
The workshop was enriched by the guidance of deeply committed facilitators, Ms. Nancy and Mr. Lloyd Greeshaw, together with Ms. Anna and Mr. Anthony Feola from the United States of America. They led the participants through thought-provoking and life-giving sessions covering Deliverance Prayer, Theology of the Body, the Eucharist, the challenge of unforgiveness and the grace of forgiveness, and the healing power of Christ. One of the highlights of the program was the Saturday street evangelization in Goroka Town, where participants boldly proclaimed the Word of God and prayed with people on the streets. This public witness of faith inspired many and gave participants the courage to live out their Christian calling beyond the church walls.

Reflecting on the workshop, Fr. Adam Samsel MSF shared: “The teaching was very good and deep, leading participants into genuine spiritual renewal. The sacrament of reconciliation became central throughout the days. Four priests were available for confessions daily—before Mass for half an hour, and again after the program each evening for one to one and a half hours. Many hearts were touched and healed, and people left with a renewed commitment to their faith.”
Mr. Torex Morgan from Kainantu, who attended the workshop, expressed his joy and gratitude: “This was a truly life-changing experience. The teachings opened my eyes to areas of faith I had not deeply reflected on before, especially on the Eucharist and forgiveness. The healing sessions brought great peace to my heart. I am eager to continue this journey and will definitely come again next year.”
The workshop concluded with participants expressing a strong desire for more such gatherings in the future, recognizing the immense spiritual impact it had on their lives. The Diocese of Goroka gives thanks to God for the success of this workshop and looks forward to welcoming even more people in the years to come.
