Alexishafen, Madang: “When Jesus was in his Blessed Mother’s womb, he was always on the move, when he started his ministry, he was always on the move encountering people and preaching the good news...Jesus did so much in his ministry while being on the move...After the resurrection, we see that the people are not only moving but they are running! Maria Magdala was running to bring the good news. The disciples Peter and John were running! That’s what characterises the Church to be a Church on the move and we are Church that should be on the move”

These were the inspiring words of His Lordship Bishop Jozef Roszynski SVD from Wewak Diocese during the morning Eucharistic celebration on Wednesday May 7, 2025. Joining him as concelebrants were His Grace Archbishop Anton Bal from Madang Archdiocese and His Lordship Bishop Siby Mathew Peedikayil HGN from Aitape Diocese.
Bishop Roszynski SVD reflected on how the stoning of Stephen brought about a new movement, strengthening of faith and the possibility of making people know about their faith and love in Jesus.
“We also reflect on how Jesus presented himself as the bread of life. In our PNG cultures, when we host a feast, we are always welcoming, even to our uninvited guests and there is always enough to go around. In the same way, Jesus in the Holy Eucharist would satisfy all our physical and spiritual desires”
He concluded his homily by praying for all the Cardinals who began the Conclave to elect a new Pope.
The day continued with order of business beginning with the approval of the AGM minutes followed by meetings by regions, an open forum followed by presentations on the Jubilee Year 2025 and the Synodal Process by Bishop Otto Separy and Bishop Draiusz Kaluza MSF respectively.
The day ended with a little celebration to commemorate Bishop Walenty Gryk SVD’s Episcopal Ordination anniversary.
