Catholic Diocese of Alotau sets date for the Episcopal Ordination of Most Rev. Jacek Piotr Tendej, CM

With hearts full of joy and gratitude, the Catholic Diocese of Alotau-Sideia invites the faithful and the community at large to join in a historic and prayerful celebration on the Episcopal Ordination of Most Rev. Jacek Piotr Tendej, CM, as the new Bishop of Alotau-Sideia.

The monumental event will take place on September 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM, in the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Alotau, Milne Bay Province. The Diocese is filled with anticipation as they prepare to welcome their new shepherd who, inspired by a deep commitment to answer the call of Jesus, will lead and guide the Catholic community in the region with wisdom, compassion, and dedication.


The principal consecrator for this significant occasion will be Bishop Rolando Santos, CM, the current Bishop of Alotau-Sideia. Joining him as co-consecrators will be the distinguished Sir John Cardinal Ribat, MSC, KBE, Archbishop of Port Moresby, and His Excellency Archbishop Maurizio Bravi, the Apostolic Nuncio to Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.


The Episcopal Ordination marks a new chapter in the life of the Diocese, as Most Rev. Jacek Piotr Tendej, CM, prepares to serve as the spiritual leader of the Catholic faithful in the Alotau-Sideia area. His appointment is the result of his unwavering devotion to the Gospel and a call to serve the Church with humility and love.

Jacek Piotr Tendej, CM, is a member of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) and has long been committed to serving the Church through a life of prayer, service, and community outreach. His appointment as Bishop of Alotau-Sideia comes after a period of faithful ministry in various roles, and he now stands ready to lead the diocese into a new era of faith-filled leadership.


The Diocese of Alotau-Sideia extends a heartfelt invitation to all to participate in the ordination and to pray for Bishop Tendej as he embarks on this sacred journey of service to the Church and its people.
