Bishop Rolando Santos CM expresses gratitude to CBC SOCOM

Alotau: “I’m so happy that this is the first time a program is held in my humble diocese at the national level of the Catholic Church”.

This was stated by the emotional Bishop Rolandos CM, the Shepherd of the beautiful Alotau – Sideia Diocese when he greeted participants of the Social Communications Summit for Diocesan Media Personnel on Tuesday March 18, 2025.
Speaking to the Catholic Bishops Conference of PNGSI Commission Secretary Sr Daisy Anne Lisania Augustine MSC, the SOCOM staff and the participants, His Lordship commended the Social Communications Commission for the initiative of hosting the program in his diocese.
“The Diocese has limited resources and the facilities are simple and basic, you experienced it yourselves at the St Paul Pastoral Center but I am blessed to have everyone from the different dioceses experiencing life in the Diocese of Alotau – Sideia”.
In response to the Bishop’s warm welcome, SOCOM Secretary Sr Daisy Anne Lisania Augustine MSC thanked the Bishop for accepting the invitation to host the SOCOM Summit in his Diocese.
“Our Commission aims at reaching out to everyone and it was our pleasure to host the SOCOM Summit in the Diocese of Alotau – Sideia and the participants are also enjoying the simplicity of things”.
After the meet and greet, His Lordship gave the participants a tour of the Cathedral and a friendly game of volleyball was enjoyed by the participants and the local youth before the participants retired to the pastoral center for other activities.
