Central Province: The Archdiocese Catholic Youth Council were blessed to be guests at the Cape Rodney, Boregaina Youth Convention that was held from 7th to 11th July 2022.
The convention had as its theme ‘Taste and See the Goodness of The Lord,’ and was an eventful gathering of which talks were given to enlighten the hearts and minds of the young people.
The program coordinated by Fr. Cleetus Vargheese, MMI parist priest of St. Stephen, Miss. Kabai, facilitator and the St. Stephen’s youths, had the participation of Holy Trinity parish from Boregaina.
On day one of the event, the ACYC presented the Catholic youth guidelines. The guidelines included the eligibility of being part of a youth group. This is so that we are sure that married young people, no longer belong to the youth group as they are now responsible for their spouse and family. Sr. Agnes, ACYC youth Coordinator outlined the terms of a youth leader. The presentation also saw team building activities after which the participants shared their reflections.
The following day, Fr.Cleetus gave the talk on "Introduction to the Bible" where he took the youths on a Bible trip from Geneis to Revelation. Sr. Agnes then dealt with Christus Vivit: the exhortation of the Holy Father Pope Francis to the young people of the world. The presentations included a Quiz from the Bible and sharing by Fr. Cleetus and Fr. Alex.
The convention allowed the young people to express their talents, through dance, song, and mime, while the others cheered on. This great event allowed the youths to enjoy the activities that took place while giving Glory and Honour to God through song, dance, games, debates, discussions and sharing.
The program concluded with the presentation of awards for the participating teams. The initiative of the St. Stephen and Holy Trinity parish youths has captured the youths attention on how to live life to its fullness especially to Taste and See the Goodness of the Lord.
