Port Moresby: The Catholic Church in Papua New Guinea continues to mould its students through established education institutions and guide them to employment. Students at Vocational and Technical Institutes are given the opportunity to put their practical skills into practice by short term training at different institutes.

 

In the same spirit, the Catholic Bishops Conference of PNGSI’s headquarters farewelled four trainee students from Limana Vocational Centre on September 4th, 2020.

 

The four trainees were Andrew Connie and Tanya Tsiroats from Bougainville, Emily, and Jacklyn Oa who reside in Port Moresby. All four underwent a 6 months short course for a certificate in Office Administration at Limana Vocational Centre and trained under housekeeping and office administration clerk jobs for seven weeks at CBCPNGSI.

 

Andrew Connie expressed his gratitude to the organization and pointed out the many things he learned while working as an intern with the National Catholic Education Secretariat Commission. 

 

“I often doubted myself with internet use. After this work training exposure, I am confident to use computers with an internet connection and surf responsibly.”

 

Jacklyn Oa another trainee applauded the tranquillity of the working environment saying she took inspiration from Monday morning devotion to witness highly educated yet God-fearing staff participating and leading the devotion, as well as sharing reports from their trips outside Port Moresby.
